*** If using 1 ounce Mint Simple Syrup (which is the official Kentucky Derby recipe) in the recipe instead of sugar cubes or simple syrup, no need to muddle 4 Mint Leaves. Just rub 2 pieces of fresh mint around the cup to release the oils, add Bourbon, add The Mint Simple Syrup, add splash of water, fill with crushed ice, stir, add the cocktail straw, garnish by putting the Mint Spring next to the straw & serve immediately.
