When checking off your bucket-list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, you’ll never forget the two that make their homes in the bush and deserts of Botswana. This land of endangered species is home to the Okavango Delta & Tsodilo.

Known as the “Louvre of the Desert”, Tsodilo has over 4,500 drawings preserved spanning over 100,000 years. The drawings date from the Stone Age to the 19th century, here, in the Kalahari Desert. Revered as a place of worship and home for their ancestral spirits, the watering holes and hills are sacred landscape to the Hambukushu and Sans, who inhabit the local community.

Okavango Delta waterways and lagoons are home to some of the worlds most endangered species. The wildlife ranges from crocodiles drifting through the lagoons to cheetah, the white rhinoceros, the black rhinoceros, the African wild dog and the lion. Uniquely enough, during the dry season, the River Okavango has its annual flooding, which the animals migrate towards.
