If the outdoors are where he loves to be, I can’t think of a better way to expand your honeys horizons than with a quick 3 day getaway in an igloo! Yes. You heard that right, an IGLOO. The Borealis Basecamp is North America’s only Igloo’s with clear ceilings. The cozy & spacious interiors with warm bedding and upgraded amenities provide everything you need to star gaze and wait for the Northern Lights. In the morning, grab a complimentary healthy breakfast at the basecamp restaurant, Latittude 65, and head out to play in the snow. During the stay one of the following additional services (of your choosing) comes complimentary.
Additional services you can book through them are offered by local vendors (based on the time of year): ATV’s, Dog Kart Rides, Dog Mushing, Snow Mobile’s. You can even take a Photography Class to get those iconic shots of the Aurora Boreallis. And, when you finished all this, grab a mound of snow in your mittened hands, shape it into a ball & have at it!
Adventure Details
Day 1
Arrive in Fairbanks and transfer from the airport by hotel shuttle at 2:30 PM or 9:30 PM included in the package (if your flight comes in different times and you need a private transfer it is an additional $10.00 per person and recommended due to extreme winter driving conditions) Upon arrival, you’re warmly welcomed by the staff and ushered to your Arctic Igloo for an evening of Aurora Viewing. If time permits, grab Dinner in Latitude 65 or a glass of wine from the accommodating staff. If you fall asleep , an evening wake-up call for Aurora is included in all stays.
Day 2
Have a blast in your arctic paradise today, relxing and enjoying all the camp has to offer. Included in your stay is your choice of an ATV or Dog Cart Tour. If it’s later in the season when snow conditions allow (typically starting in mid-November) a snow mobile or dog sledding tour. Each tour is 1 hour long and you can choose at booking which one you prefer. Winter gear is provided.
Grab some snow shoes (in winter) or fat tire bikes from the guide and take off on an adventure through maintained trails on property. The staff can also supply ice skates when it’s cold to enjoy the outdoor rink. After all the outdoor adventure, grab a chair by the campfire &order a beverage to take in an arctic sunset.
This evening, relax in your cozy igloo for your Aurora viewing. Get a wake-up call if needed.
Additional Activities To Add: The Arctic Circle Tour. This departs basecamp at 10:30 am and heads north to the Arctic Circle. You’ll travel the world-famous Dalton Highway and traverse the mighty Yukon River…you even get an Arctic Circle Certificate to take home!
Day 3
For your final day you can choose some additional optional activities and head back to Fairbanks at 12:00pm or stay a while longer & head back at 4:00 pm.
